Swimsuit instead of smart shoes: Sponsored swim at the open-air pool
07/08/2013 | en
Employees from various Psyma subsidiaries in Germany met up mid July at the open-air swimming pool instead of at the office to participate in a sponsored swim. Psyma promised € 5 towards the UNICEF “Water works” campaign for each length swum in 30 minutes. 14 motivated swimmers managed 331 lengths in the half hour; this short burst of energy was more than worthwhile as PSYMA GROUP AG then handed a cheque for € 1,655 to UNICEF! The activity itself was triggered off by an internal presentation held by UNICEF-volunteer Sonia Dunster about her experiences on a UNICEF project trip to Cambodia.
With the "Water works“ campaign, UNICEF wants to provide at least 500.000 children in six countries with sustainable clean drinking water, latrines and information about hygiene by 2015. Selected programmes especially support disadvantaged sections of the population in rural regions and metropolitan slums. The money donated will be used in Cambodia for water filters, rain water collection tanks and hygiene education.
